Is it dangerous to smoke tea?
There is not much data about the dangers of smoking tea due to its low popularity in general. It is reasonable to believe that the dangers of smoking tobacco also apply to tea, which includes many dangerous side effects, for example the very deadly one - lung cancer.
Tobacco has been smoked by a lot of people for a long time. This means that a vast amount of data is available and has already been analyzed to conclude on the dangers of tobacco smoking. When smoking tea instead of tobacco, there is little data available to make a well informed conclusion about anything. On the bad side, it would be reasonable to expect that it has many of the dangerous properties of tobacco when smoked. But on the bright side, drinking tea is healthy, providing antioxidants for the body and at the same time helping to fight free radicals - both things crucial in order to protect against many types of cancer. Since cancer is one of the main concerns of smoking in general, some people believe that smoking tea may have some of the benefits of drinking it, and in that be healthier than smoking tobacco. With that said, it could also be the case that all the good properties of tea disappear as soon as you burn it. Combustion temperatures can often turn harmless stuff into toxic gas, and a good rule of thumb is that no smoke is healthy for you.
